Allison Jones, MSc, Lead Scientist

Allison (she/her) is a broadly trained conservation biologist and field ecologist, and works at the intersection of conservation biology, land and wildlife management, and conservation policy. She links field data, published literature, and conservation frameworks and policy to assist agencies and other partners in meeting their conservation and management obligations. Underpinning much of Allison’s work is her deep experience working in multi-stakeholder collaborations. She holds an MSc in Conservation Biology from the University of Nevada, Reno and a BA in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Before coming to CSP, Allison worked for over two decades, both with an NGO and with her own business, undertaking landscape-scale conservation analyses, and analyses of state and federal wildlife and habitat management plans and revisions. Importantly, in both settings, Allison provided the scientific support for other NGOs’ conservation campaigns, which aimed to bring about best outcomes for state and federal land and wildlife management decisions and plans. This experience is invaluable as Allison works more directly with these agency decision-makers through CSP projects today.

Allison moved to Utah 25 years ago for the rock climbing and the skiing and happily remains there today (although river running and trail running have replaced the rock climbing these days). As a recent ’empty nester,’ with her daughter a sophomore at college in Allison’s home state of California, Allison is excited to dedicate more time to her work while figuring out how to grow the best garden one can in Utah.
