Lise Comte, PhD, Lead Scientist
Lise is a conservation ecologist in CSP’s Changing Landscapes Lab seeking to understand the vulnerability of ecological systems to global-scale environmental changes, with an emphasis on freshwater conservation. Her work leverages big data with innovative spatial and modeling approaches to expand our knowledge of how populations, species, communities and the functions they support respond to changing environments. Armed with strong analytic skills, intellectual curiosity, a passion for ecological research and commitment to advancing the science of conservation, Lise is thrilled to participate to the mission of the Changing Landscape lab and develop solutions to today’s most pressing environmental challenges.
Lise earned her Ph.D. in Ecology in 2014 from the University of Toulouse (France) where she studied the response of freshwater fish to climate change before moving to the US where she continued working on both fundamental and applied research questions related to freshwater biodiversity dynamics and threats at the University of Washington, University of California Berkeley, The University of Tennessee and Illinois State University.
Lise deeply values her connection with nature and loves hiking, particularly with her family. When she is not spending time outdoors, she is hiding somewhere with a book!
